JPG's are a compressed format, but they can be lossless (exactly the same as a non-compressed format) if you put the quality at the highest level, (largest size). it will be EXACTLY the same as say a tiff, or god forbid an sgi image, etc. (damn sgi's are huge for some reason) Also a 5 mega pixel image can look better than a 2 megapixel camera even if you are scaling down to 4x6' depending on the subject and the software your using to scale it. but whether you'd really notice the difference, I can't say...
